Activision Success Story

By: Hub Blogging

Activision, the name has been raised against all potential obstacles. Today, it is the world’s most popular corporate entertainment company. Activision aims to create the most fun and exciting video games for its loyal customers.

The founders of Activision believed in their dreams, risked themselves and became the company they are today. The game console was the first independent developer and distributor of video games (game consoles) in the world.

Activision is widely known for creating some of the most popular video games of all time such as Call of Duty, Interstate ’82, Quake III Arena and Dark Reign II. Former Atari program planners Alan Miller, Bob Whitehead and David Crane launched Activision in October. 1st 1979 with Jim Levy (formerly a major in the music industry) and Richard Muchmore (Venture Capitalist). They were soon joined by Larry Kaplan who used to work at Atari.

The developers quit their jobs at Atari because they were not given recognition for the video games they developed. They wanted the newly formed company to appear first in the phone book, before Atari so they decided to choose the name ‘Activision’.

Activation has given video game creators the recognition it deserves. This involves creating a special page dedicated to the developer in the game instruction manual. The strategic move has made the company attractive to experienced game developers.

The first products Activision produced were Atari 2600 video console program cartridges that were only available initially in the US. Gradually, Activision has diverged from producing home-based computer games and other devices due to the market-based game consoles. Activision’s first major success was the release of the ‘Pitfall!’ Version of Atari 2600.

In 1988, Activision changed its name to Mediagenic as it entered the business applications. But as a result of the copyright infringement suit, Activision Blizzard lost his popularity and was taken over by Robert Kotick and a group of investors.

The business name was changed back to Activision in 1992 and the headquarters was moved from Mountain View in Silicon Valley to Santa Monica in Southern California. Following this, Activision decided to focus more on the video game industry and has been very successful ever since.

On July 9, 2008, a consolidation occurred among Activision and Vivendi Games to shape another organization called Activision Blizzard. Later in 2013, Activision Blizzard became a private company.

Activision thrives on taking high risks and reaping huge rewards especially at a time when the video game industry was full of competition. If a company believes it has developed something special many people will appreciate it. If that one thing is better than anything else in the market right now, it gets bigger. Activation is an inspiring story for a company with a ‘whole or nothing’ attitude.
